Body Massage
Anatomy & physiology
Effleurage, friction,  kneading,  wringing,  hacking,  cupping, tapotement.
Physiological benefits, psychological benefits, contra-indications, posture & stance.
Setting up in business, professionalism, patient care, salon layout, record keeping, aftercare advice.
Full body intuitive massage.

Aromatherapy
In depth study of essential oils, countries of origin, methods of production, physiological effects, psychological effects, effective use of oils.
Aromatherapy massage, facial treatment.
Contra-indications of oils, contra-indications of massage.
Dangerous oils, dangers of overdose.
Treatment Programme.
Blending of oils.
Chemistry of oils.
Client Comfort.
Stress Management.

Foot Massage, Spa Foot Oil Treatment.Reflexology
Zone theory – principles, philosophical and logistic.
Reflexes, stretch reflex, tendon reflex, flexor reflex, crossed extensor reflex. Reflexology treatment grips.
Foot massage.
Observations, indications, considerations and applications – pre, during and post-treatment.Reading the body.
History taking.
Incorporating other techniques, methods & therapy.
Care and management of the individual.
Supporting health, safety & security in the workplace.
Developing interpersonal skills.

Entry Requirements
There are no entry requirements for this qualification although attendance on the Introduction to Massage course would be helpful.

Examination System
Continuous assessment by means of written homework, assignments and home practice. Home study and practice is over a minimum period of three months following the school attendance days. A final assessment date is arranged after the home study period.
Please note that a fee of £160.00 is payable for the VTCT assessment and verification.

Qualification Attained
VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies

Professional Insurance
Membership is available to various professional bodies including the Federation of Holistic Therapists which offers insurance and other benefits for therapists in the UK. Employment is available in clinics, spas, beauty salons and working from home. The Manchester Therapy Centre has part-time work available on an ongoing basis for students in the Manchester area.

Course Format
The course is run in a modular format. It may be possible to ‘mix’ different course dates if certain dates are inconvenient.

Further Information
Course times are from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm depending on the group size which is kept at eight or less for more individual attention. The venue is at the Manchester School of Massage in South Manchester.
