Course Content
Study of 30 Essential Oils, Countries of Origin, Methods of Production, Physiological Effects, Psychological Effects, Effective Use of Oils, Aromatherapy Massage, Facial Treatment, Contra-indications of Oils, Contra-indications of Massage, Dangerous Oils, Dangers of Overdose, Treatment Programme, Client Comfort, Record Taking, Aftercare Advice, Stress Management

Entry Requirements
Previous qualification in holistic therapies is preferable. Attendance at an introductory massage weekend prior to the course is necessary if you have not had any previous massage experience. Alternatively, you may arrange private massage tuition with us prior to starting the course.
Examination System
Continuous assessment by means of written homework, assignments and home practice. Home study and practice is over a minimum period of three months following the school attendance days. A final assessment date is arranged after the home study period. Please note that a fee of £76.00 is payable for the VTCT assessment and verification which includes lifetime registration and Health & Safety modules. If you are already registered with VTCT this fee may be reduced by up to £30.00.
Qualification Attained
‘International Institute of Health & Holistic Therapies’ Level 3 Aromatherapy Diploma. This is a recognised qualification that will enable you to practise and work in salons, alternative health clinics or part time from home.

Course Content
Study of 10 additional Essential Oils, Blending of Oils, Chemistry of Oils, Scientific data on the use of Essential Oils, Data on purity of oils, Botanical classifications of plants producing Essential Oils, Elementary principles of Organic Chemistry, Major constituents of essential oils, Chemotypes, Massage, Compresses, Inhalations, Vaporisers, Skin care, Hair care, Neuromuscular Treatment, Lymphatic drainage, Pressure Treatment, Breathing, Visualisation, Meditation.

Entry Requirements
IIHHT Aromatherapy Certificate or Diploma is required.
Examination System

Professional Insurance
Membership is available to the Federation of Holistic Therapists which offers insurance and other benefits for therapists in the UK. You may also join other organisations such as the Independent Professional Therapists International. Employment is available in clinics, spas, beauty salons and part-time freelance, working from home. The Manchester Therapy Centre has part-time work available on an ongoing basis for aromatherapists in the Manchester area.
Further Information
The aromatherapy course includes ‘hands on’ training in aromatherapy massage. Course times are from 10.30 am to about 5.30 pm depending on the group size.
The aromatherapy qualification is recognised in many countries outside the UK and gives a good grounding for further qualifications in holistic therapies. The venue is at the Manchester School of Massage in South Manchester. The group size is kept below ten for individual attention.
